CPS story or mistaken abuse story + one specific request

Hi :)

I´m have one general request and one specific. No wincest if you don't have to, please, but if it is, please mention it so that I´m prepared :)

1) Any story where either the CPS, suspicious neighbors, teachers or friends (I would love to read a story where someone at their new school...) suspect that Sam and Dean are being abused or neglected - either because of something they say or something they don´t, or bruises or where they live, or after meeting John. Either stories from an Outsider POV or from the Winchesters.
+ If there is a story from the Stanford!era where Jess suspects abuse I would love to read that too.
Preferably gen and no wincest (but if the story is good enough - I can read that too.)

2) This is a story I´ve been looking for for quite some time and I can´t find it. I think Sam just got accepted to Stanford - and he fights with John and runs off. John sends Dean after him with money (after they discover that Sam doesn´t have any), but he is already gone. Sam hitches a ride with a truck driver - and after a while ends up with this family who has a ghost in the barn (their dead son I think...)

3) Any really, really good fic that you feel falls within the range of these requests :)

For #1: I think, based on what you say, you'd really like What Was and What Could Have Been, by brightly_lit. http://brightly-lit.livejournal.com/41533.html One of my favorite wee!chesters fics ever. It's gen, around 5,500 words.

John never comes back from a hunt, and the cops finally come, so the boys (I think around 10 and 14) escape and have to figure out how to live on their own. People in the little town they settle in are concerned.

And I think it´s the first one I´ve read where John actually doesn´t come back. He kinda always does... It was sad - but I loved the way they managed by themselves, and how they gradually began trusting. Do you know if there is a sequel? :)

I know-- when I first read it, I was half-expecting him to come back, and I was sad but glad he didn't, if that makes sense.

It's SO funny that you mention a sequel-- there isn't one, but in a writer's meme recently, I was asked what fic that I didn't write myself would I write a sequel to, and my answer was this fic! (Not sure if I ever posted that comment though! Kinda lost track of that meme; I'll have to check). So I might actually write a sequel one day; brightly_lit has said she would be down with that.

She writes wonderful wee!chesters fic; if you loved this one, you should mine her master fic list. She's one of the only fic writers I feel gives the complexity of John's character its due.

Absolutely makes sense. He is their father - and always strikes me as this strange paradox; a stable/unstable (safe/unsafe) element in their lives. It´s fascinating really...
I´ll be keeping an eye out for that sequel! Would like to read that :D I´ve got a couple of fics like that too - that I really really want to see continued - but that never are...

I have read number two, I think it was on FF. I think that Sam calls an old friend (an instructor at Stanford maybe) to tell him that he was headed to school sooner than expected but the friend was in England? On vacation.
I might be mixing up two, there was one with the same premise but Sam jumps off a train because of a spirit and a man in a truck finds Sam hurt on the side of the road. Either way they were both on FF.
Does any of this sound familiar?

But it wasn´t The Effects of Gravity, it was the other one by Rozzy07 "Escaping gravity". Either way you found it :)
