This story is from many years ago, and I believe is Jared/Jensen (although it's possibly a Sam/Dean AU). Jared is older and a member of a biker gang; Jensen is in high school. They meet and start a relationship. Jensen is underage, and possibly has an abusive family, so he moves in with the bikers. Jared's job was possibly a mechanic or a welder.

I believe there is more than one part. I don't think it was originally on LJ, but I think the fic had art that went with it.

It isn't any of the biker fic on AO3, I've already looked at several of those. It isn't the Freedom 'verse.

Willing to bet it is! There are four books in it, total, and they're all awesome.

* Smoke & Lightning 1: Heavy Metal Thunder (http://arealwildchild.livejournal.com/9553.html): Jared's a leather-clad punk from the wrong side of town, and the only things that matter to him are his motorcycle, his stepfather, his extended biker family and his tattoos. Jensen's a rich kid who's going places, if he can only survive the bullying he gets at school for being gay, and the bullying he gets from his father for not being the person his father wants him to be. When their two worlds collide, will Jared be too much for Jensen to handle, or will he be the salvation Jensen's been looking for all his life?

* Smoke & Lightning 2: Born to Be Wild (http://arealwildchild.livejournal.com/27680.html): They're born to be wild. At least, Jared is. Jensen's learning, though, and this road-trip that they're on will teach him plenty of lessons. It's a good thing, too, because he'll need what he's learned when they return and venture onto an altogether more serious step in their relationship. Trust is a major aspect for the both of them and Jensen's will be tested to breaking point as the boys learn how they'll cope together on the road... and off it.

* Smoke & Lightning 3: City of Angels (http://arealwildchild.livejournal.com/52119.html): Jensen and Jared have made their move to L.A. so that Jensen can start a new job in a new hospital. But Jared needs to find something, too.

* Smoke & Lightning 4: Whatever Comes Our Way (http://arealwildchild.livejournal.com/84447.html): The boys have a new family and face a whole new set of challenges and possibilities, including moving back to Texas and learning how to be good parents to two troubled kids. But they can handle it, as long as they have each other.
