spnstoryfinders_ljSeems I haven't bookmarked this one, but I'm pretty sure the title had the word "water" in it, and it was on the order of 50 thousand words.
The first chapter is Dean and Sam accidentally running across a town that's been taken over by demons. When they're taken to the police station, they find Castiel, who they thought dead after "Lucifer Rising", being kept as a plaything; there's some reasonably graphic description of what's been done to him, and it turns out that one of the demons hated Cas specifically because of rescuing Dean--Dean had been engaged in torturing this guy, the angel shows up...and takes Dean rather that him. Castiel has been reduced to basically human by angel-supressing wards and the demons are entertaining themselves torturing and raping him. The boys bust him out and he instantly teleports away.
The rest of the fic is trying to figure out what to do about Lucifer, mixed with very-slow-burn Destiel that's significantly impaired by Cas's status as a rape survivor. The climax, if I'm not mixing it up with a different fic, involves Lucifer sending Cas back to Hell and Dean contemplating killing himself to go to Hell to rescue him.
Once the Apocalypse gets dealt with, Castiel chooses to stay on Earth when the other angels leave. Oh, and Jo and Ellen were not dead. I'm fairly sure it was written during the 4-5 hiatus and for some reason I think the author might have been British.
