spnstoryfinders_ljIn fact, Sam's body dies while Dean doesn't even know he's soulless. Dean lives a while longer, dies on a hunt, gets to heaven and is very unpleasantly surprised when Sam's not there; he then has to retrieve Sam's soul from the cage.
