Best example I can think of these is Skag Trendy's Broken (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4196605/1/Broken): Dean and Sam split up after Azazel's death with harsh words and anger. When Dean runs into Sam again, he blames Sam for not having his back... only to find out that in the time he's been gone, Sam's suffered a life-and-mobility-threatening injury.
