Dark!fic, character death and one vague request

Hey, guys. I was just wondering if you'd be so kind as to recommend me all of your best dark!fic. I'm okay with sad or happy endings.

Gen or het is welcome, but no slash, please.

Some suggestions: zombie!fic, apocalypse-for-any-other-reason fic, boys caught in a nightmare world of some sort (SILENT HILL/SPN CROSSOVERS ZOMG), terminal illness fics, and just anything else where shit just hits the fan.

Also, the vague request: Is there perchance ANY fic where one of the brothers commits suicide and ends up haunting the other? I have this nagging feeling I may have come across a fic like this before, but for the live of me I just can't remember for sure if it ever really existed. If fics like these exist, send as much of them my way as possible, please!

Thanks!

List of suicidal!sam deathfic. (http://bettenoire.livejournal.com/1675.html) I don't think any of them meet the haunting request, though.

Spn-Silent-Hill crossover

The Seal of Silent Hill by Crimson1
Sam, Dean, and Castiel go to Silent Hill. Set during Season 4 of Supernatural, Castiel sent Sam and Dean to investigate the location of a seal about to be broken. Little do they know what horrors await them. Horror/Gen, with multiple endings!
Rated: M - English - Horror/Suspense - Chapters: 30 - Words: 50,264

otp_destiel's Hell Rises with Him. Dark, AU, demon!Dean.
Summary: When Castiel gripped Dean Winchester tight and raised him from perdition he had no idea that the once Righteous Man was no longer human, nor the effects that raising him thus would have.

Sorry, I wasn't really awake when I posted that comment - didn't notice the "no slash" clause. Hope you find what you're looking for. ;)

A fellow Silent Hill fan! ::waves::

I have a few self-recs that might fit the bill.

Though I've never written a Silent Hill-Supernatural crossover, Counteroffer (http://monicawoe.livejournal.com/110895.html) was very much inspired by the game series - especially some of the visuals. It's pretty damn dark though, even for me - but if that's what you're looking for, it should be right up your alley.

Regarding suicide I've written three where one brother kills themselves, but there's no haunting afterwards:
(again they're both pretty depressing, especially the first)
The Devil's Own (http://monicawoe.livejournal.com/67339.html)
Oh Death, Come close Mine Eyes (http://monicawoe.livejournal.com/93949.html)
and
Not With a Bang (http://monicawoe.livejournal.com/94155.html) (this one is post-Apocalypse: Lucifer won, but he keeps Dean alive)

However, the fic you're talking about does sound very familiar. I tried finding it and came up with nothing. I'll keep looking though, because it was a pretty good read.

I read a great haunting one a while ago, but for the life of me can't find it. Maybe someone else will. It has Sam and Jess living together and Dean comes for a visit and really it is Dean's ghost visiting Sam annually on the day of the pilot as Dean died looking for John because Sam said no. And Sam puts himself through this every year as pennance for saying no and because it means he gets to see Dean once a year. Of course I've totally spoiled it now but it wasn't until close to the end/reveal before I figured it out it was so well done. I think I might have found it off Crack!Impala and it was probably a pretty old rec.

This is totally it! Thanks - I'm going to book mark it now.
