I need something to read so I was wondering if you fantastic people could help a girl out?

A few ideas:

1. Dean or Sam with daddy issues, abandonment issues, or low self-esteem.
2. Bullied Dean or Bullied Sam.
3. Dean visits or comes to stay with Sam while Sam is at Stanford.
4. Your favorite story of all time
5. Crying Dean or Sam

a. Gen is preferred but het is fine too...please no slash
b. Please no crossovers

Again, I just want something to read so I will accept virtually anything. The above is just some ideas :D (and I'm hoping that my profile picture is pretty enough that you will want to help me!! :P)

I have a few you might like. Unfortunately, I'm on my phone in the car so I can't pull up the links right now. I'll see what I can do as soon as I can bring up my laptop.

And God I Know I'm One - I forget who wrote it, but it's on LJ. It's a brilliant exploration of how the story would go if the brothers were born in reverse order. I absolutely adore this fic. It's very poignant. Dean pov beginning with the pilot and ending shortly after the season 2 finale. Background Sam/Jess, but mainly gen.

In Silence - This one's on ff.net. Pre-series AU. John was arrested and the boys were put in fostercare. Four years later, Dean's living in the slums of New York while Sam's been happily adopted by a family in Colorado. Sam's family comes to New York on a business trip and shelter a troubled teenage boy. Sadly, this fic seems to have been abandoned, but what's beenjwritten is well worth reading.

Long Way Home - Also on ff.net. Another pre-series AU. Dean ran away at 16 and joined the Marines. What he never expected was for John to completely lose it after he was gone. Now he has to put the broken pieces of Sam back together and somehow keep the kid safe. At least he has his unit and CO to help out. Therehs a sequel for this one. They're both really good.

I believe this story you are referring to is In Shadow, by UnholyMuse. It's great. It's too bad she abandoned it. I even emailed her recently about the story and so far no response.

Yeah, that's the one. At least she included that time stamp so we know things turn out all right, even if we never get to see how they get there.
