Angst

In light of the recent episode, I'm totally in a mood for angst that will make me brawl like a baby. I've never been into heavy angst.. heck, I was even a little wary of those who liked them. Then Supernatural showed me how angst is *supposed* to be. Still, I was never into angst enough to actively look for them.. now I don't know where to find them. Any rec' will be appreciated.

A few conditions: Has to be Gen, no graphic torture (though hurt!Dean I don't mind) and no deathfics. Are they too restrictive?

How does non-Winchester death fic suit? 'Cause A Good Man Is Hard To Find (http://community.livejournal.com/spn_gen/144167.html) is a very well written angst fic. And then there's Cartography In Empty Spaces (http://ignipes.livejournal.com/178476.html) by ignipes. Also fantastically written. Oh, and big_pink does wonderful, plotty, long fics that are just beautiful.

That's all I can think of right now, but I've got a head cold and am therefore quite loopy. Hope you enjoy those!

This is one of the first Supernatural fics I read. Poignant without being heavy handed and still one of my favorite Dean stories.

This lovely author regularly steals my brain. I lurk on her page waiting for new fic. A story about the many different types of monsters.

A seemingly simple concept. What if you always got the same fortune in your fortune cookie? Wonderfully written, sad, and more than a little unsettling.

This last one is a death fic (which I normally don't care for either). And it's written in the 2nd person which normally sets my teeth on edge. Yet this is one of the few fics I've read that just breaks me. It makes me cry. Not made - makes. That in itself is a rarity. It cuts me that deep each time I read it.

I'm not that big of an angst fan myself but hopefully this will help you out :)

Self-pimping okay for you?

Meh. I think ALL my angst fics are deathfics. Save for maybe one or two. I think. But they can all be found here (http://dev-earl.livejournal.com/tag/when+i+angsted%3B). :)

[livejournal.com profile] big_pink's Dazzleland (http://big-pink.livejournal.com/22710.html?style=mine) has quite possibly the most angst packed into a single story I've ever seen, and every big of it is believable and earned. Followed closely by her Red (http://big-pink.livejournal.com/16952.html?style=mine). Plus they're huge (~100,000 and 76,000 words, respectively), and so amazingly good I don't even have the words.
